Sailor elephant :: Matrosen-Elephant

It was my youngest nephew's first birthday a few weeks ago and there was no question that the boy should get something special for his special day. I decided to knit Elijah by Ysolda Teague. It is just a wonderful pattern! It is very detailed and never leaves you in doubt. The instructions are very clear so it means if you follow them the little chap will turn out just as sweet as in the pattern picture. I decided to give him a red and white sailor jumper and I also added a little tail with a fringed end. I have to admit that it was quite hard to give him away but he now has a lovely home and was received with great joy.

Vor ein paar Wochen war der erste Geburtstag und es stand natuerlich fest, dass der Bub etwas ganz besonderes zu seinem allerersten Ehrentag bekommen sollte. Ich entschied mich, Elijah von Ysolda Teague zu versuchen. Es ist einfach ein ganz wundervolles Muster, dass ich jedem nur empfehlen kann. Es ist sehr detailiert beschrieben und laesst Dich an keiner Stelle im Zweifel wie's weiter geht. Die Beschreibungen sind so genau, dass wenn man ihnen folgt, man genau so einen suessen Kerl erhaelt wie auf dem Foto. Ich habe ihm allerdings noch einen rot-weissen Matrosenpulli verpasst und auch einen kleinen Schwanz mit Fransen. Es war schon etwas schwer, mich von dem kleinen Kerl zu trennen, doch er hat jetzt ein wundervolles neues Zuhause und wurde mit grosser Freude begruesst.

bag for my mum :: Tasche fuer Mama

This is a bag that I am a bit proud of. I made it for my mom on mother's day using Lisa Lam's pattern in "The Bag Making Bible". I didn't make it reversible, I rather added a zippered pocket inside to make it more useable for my mum. Instead of a button a made a fabric flower using this tutorial with a hidden magnet inside for closure. If you want to try this bag you can find the pattern free for download here.

Auf diese Tasche bin ich ein ganz klein bisschen stolz :-) Ich hab sie fuer meine Mama zum Muttertag genaeht, das Schnittmuster ist aus "The Bag Making Bible". Ich hab sie allerdings nicht zum Wenden gemacht, lieber habe ich innen noch eine Reissverschlusstasche und eine aufgesetzte Tasche eingenaeht, damit sie noch besser benutzbar ist. Anstelle des Knopfs habe ich ein Stoffbluemchen (Tutorial hier) mit verstecktem Magneten gewaehlt. Falls ihr die Tasche auch gern mal probieren wollt, es gibt sogar eine kostenlose Anleitung dazu hier.

Ziggy Pullover

This is the finished jumper for my nephew Henry. It was actually finished quite a while ago. I just had to wait for some photos with the actual model ;-) I had quite a hard time with the pattern at first but after one or two repeats I understood the logic behind it. The result was definitely worth it and little Henry like his new jumper although there is still plenty of room to grow into.

Dies ist der fertige Pullover fuer meinen kleinen Neffen Henry. Er ist eigentlich schon etwas laenger fertig, aber ich musste noch auf die Photos mit dem Model warten ;-) Das Zick-Zack-Muster fand ich zu Anfang recht schwierig, doch nach ein, zwei Mustersaetzen habe ich die Logik dahinter verstanden. Das Resultat war der Muehe wert und Klein-Henry mag seinen neuen Pullover offenbar sehr gern obwohl noch reichlich Platz zum reinwachsen ist.

Gloves :: Handschuhe

These are gloves that I made as a Christmas gift for my mum. I used Drops Baby Alpaca Silk Yarn which is wonderfully soft and has a luxury feel to it. My mum loves her new gloves and used them very often during the cold winter days

Diese Handschuhe habe ich als Weihnachtsgeschenk fuer meine Mutter gestrickt. Ich habe Drops Baby Alpaca SilkGarn benutzt, was herrlich weich ist und wirklich einen Hauch von Luxus hat. Meine Mutter mag ihre neuen Handschuhe sehr und hat sie schon oft waehrend der kalten Wintertage getragen.

My first project of the year :: Mein erstes Projekt in diesem Jahr

This really has been a very long break from blogging. But you know what it is like. First you are occupied by making all the Christmas presents then you can't share them because they are still secret and then there is no daylight to take proper pictures (I really don't like using the flash). But now I am back and I want to show you my first project of the year. It is a cardigan that was featured in one of Germany's currently very popular country living magazines. It only took me three weeks to finish. So it was ready just in time for the very cold weather we have at the moment.

Das war wirklich eine lange Blogpause. Aber ihr wisst ja wie es ist. Erst hat man soviel mit den ganzen Weihnachtsgeschenken zu tun, dann darf man sie nicht zeigen, weil alles noch streng geheim ist und dann gibt es kein Tageslicht um ordentliche Bilder zu machen. Jetzt bin ich ja wieder hier und wuerde euch gern mein erstes Projekt in diesem Jahr zu zeigen. Es ist die Strickjacke aus der Landlust. Ich habe fuer alles nur drei Wochen gebraucht, so dass sie genau zur rechten Zeit zum Kaelteeinbruch fertig wurde.
