Two days ago it was my 30th birthday. I have to say that I wasn't really looking forward to this occasion because I was not particularly keen on being 30. But I guess that's one of the things in life you can't change and you just have to get on with it. But it turned out to be a lovely party. It was the first time I really tried to make an effort on the decoration of the room and I used Martha Stewart's silk paper pom-poms. They looked gorgeous together with the colour co-ordinated food, napkins and table decorations so the guests seemed to be impressed.

Vor zwei Tagen war mein 30. Geburtstag. Ich muss sagen, dass ich mich nicht wirklich auf dieses Ereignis gefreut habe, weil ich eigentlich nicht besonders scharf darauf war, die Zwanziger zu verlassen und 30 zu sein. Aber ich vermute mal, das es eins dieser Dinge im Leben ist, die man beim besten Willen nicht ändern kann und die man so hinnehmen muss. Aber es wurde dennoch eine tolle Party. Diesmal war das erste mal, dass ich mich wirklich ins Zeug gelegt habe mit der Zimmerdekoration und dafür habe ich Matha Stewarts Seidenpaier Pom-Poms genommen. Sie sahen phantastisch aus zusammen mit dem farblich abgestimmten Cupcakes, Servietten und Tischdekoration.

Another thing that sweetened the being-30-thing were the lovely presents I received. My parents gave me a great sewing books that contains all the tricky details in cloth sewing, for example pockets, darts, collars... You name it and I am sure it's in the book.

Eine weitere Sache, die mir das 30 werden versüßt hat, waren die lieben Geschenke, die ich bekommen habe. Von meinen Eltern habe ich ein großartiges Nähbuch bekommen, das alle schwierigen Details beinhaltet, die beim Kleidernähen so vorkommen, z.B. Taschen, Abnäher, Kragen... was Du willst, ich bin sicher es ist in diesem Buch drin.

From my sister I got a great book, too. It is called "Material Obsession" and is all about lovely quilts. It has ver detailed instructions for various quilts in it as well as beautiful pictures. On top of that I got a selection of designer fabrics, which are just great! If only it wasn't so difficult to deicde what to do with them... Any suggestions?

Von meiner Schwester habe ich ein ebenso tolles Buch bekommen. es heißt "Material Obsession" und ist ein Quiltbuch. Es hat sehr detaillierte Anleitungen für verschiedene Quilts und wunderschöne Bilder. Darüber hinaus habe ich auch noch ein Stoffpaket mit einer Auswahl von Designerstoffen bekommen, das einfach nur großartig ist! Wenn es nur nicht so schrekclich schwer wäre, zu entscheiden, was ich daraus nähen soll... Für Vorschläge bin ich ganz offen.
