Baby it's cold outside... No. 2

I had some leftover Eskimo yarn from drops in two different colours which was too less to knit anything with it. Until I got the idea to combine the two colurs and make striped socks. The result is great. They are really warm and it feels heavenly to walk with them, like walking on a sheep's skin. And the best: one sock was finished in less than two hours. That definitely is my personal speed record in sock knitting. These would definitely be good last-minute gifts.

Baby it's cold outside...

Well, at the moment it's actually quite mild but we did have some frosty nights already. So I thought I'd better prepare for the cold winter here at the Baltic Sea and knit some mittens for me. I had some acrylic yarn left over. Although this yarn is really cheap, it knits wonderfully and is soooo soft. Perfect for experiments and perfect for throwing in the washing machine. I used the pattern for the Karisma mittens but as many others I changed the top a bit to suit my short fingers. I am very happy with how they turned out and I think they will get a lot of use this winter.

Clutch

In september my cousin got married and I was in need of a nice wedding outfit. I already had
a white strapless corsage in my wardrobe which i hade never worn before. So I just needed to find a skirt. After a lot of window shopping, I decided to make my own one using the Michelle pattern from Burda Style. I ordered some really nice dupioni silk in lavender, took a very deep breath before I cut into it and made the skirt. Since I had ordered way too much of the silk there was enough left to make a kind of shoulder wrap and a clutch. I have searched the internet and found several ones that I liked but had no time to order a pattern. So I just whipped up my own. And this is what I came up with: Not too bad for a first try, don't you think? I used very stiff vilene to give it a proper shape and made a rose for the front to match my corsage.

Also hab ich fix mein eigenes entworfen.
