Baby Cardigan :: Babyjäckchen

Here is the 2nd knitted present for my new nephew Louis Gabriel. I chose the Baby Sophisticate pattern because I fell in love the moment I first saw it. I think it is perfect for a little boy, and indeed makes them look like little gentlemen. There really aren't that many typical boy patterns. I substituted the recommended wool yarn for a cotton / acrylic mix since this is for a summer baby and it shouldn't be too warm and it should be easily washable. The result is still quite a thick fabric, but it will fit in autumn and perhaps that's ok for then. I added a little label made of toy soldier fabric, isn't that cute?

Hier ist das zweite gestrickte Geschenk für meinen neuen Neffen Louis Gabriel. Ich habe das "Baby Sophisticate" Muster ausgesucht, weil ich mich sofort als ich es das erste Mal sah, darin verguckt habe. 9Ich finde, es ist perfekt für einen kleinen Jungen und es lässt sie tatsächlich wie kleine Gentlemen darin aussehen. Es gibt nämlich gar nicht so viele typische Jungs-Muster. Ich habe das vorgeschlagene Woll-garn durch eine Bauwoll-Mischung ersetzt, da es ja ein Sommer-Baby ist und es nich so warm sein sollte, doch das Resultat ist trotzdem recht dick geworden. Wahrscheinlich wird das Jäckchen aber sowieso erst im Herbst richtig passen, so dass es dann vielleicht doch wieder ok ist. Ich hab noch ein Label aus Spielzeugsoldatenstoff (klingt toy soldier fabric nicht so viel einfacher?) hinzugefügt, süß, was?

Welcome little man :: Willkommen, kleiner Mann

We have a new addition to our family! My sister gave birth this week to a sweet little boy. I haven't been able to meet him personally, but I was told he is the cutest little thing you can imagine. Of course there as a lot of secret knitting ging on bein te scenes of pi.pa.po. And now I can show it to you. So the next posts will be full of baby stuff, just to warn you!

I'll start with this little hat, very easy and very quick to knit. I chose Schachenmayr's Catania for the yarn since it is very light and the cotton makes it easy for washing.

Wir haben ein neues Familienmitglied! Meine Schwester hat diese Woche einen süßen kleinen Jungen zur Welt gebracht. Ich konnte ihn leider noch nicht persönlich treffen, doch mir wurde versichert, dass es das süßeste kleine Ding ist, das man sich vorstellen kann. Natürlich gab es viel heimliches Stricken hinter den Kulissen von pi.pa.po, doch nun kann ich es euch endlich zeigen! Die nächsten Beiträge werden also etwas babylastig, nur um euch schon mal zu warnen ;-)

Ich fange mal mit diesem kleinen Mützchen an, geht sehr leicht und schnell zu stricken. Ich habe Schachenmayrs Catania Garn benutzt, da es sehr leicht ist und durch die Baumwolle einfach zu waschen ist.

Ich weiß nicht, wie es euch ging, aber ich habe es nicht einmal annähernd geschafft, jeden Blog auf der Liste zu besuchen. Hallo, nur ein kleiner Post, um Euch zu sagen, dass ich mich gerade beim Sew Mama Sew Giveaway day angemeldet habe. Er beginnt am 23. Mai und es wird in ganz vielen Blogs unzählige Chancen geben entweder etwas handgefertigtes oder Materialien zu gewinnen. Pencil case for my mum :: Federmappe für meine Mama

 

I think it should be safe now to show you what I made with the hexagons from my last post: A pencil case for my mum. She has got the sweetest little desk where her laptop lives and it is always very tidy with a little vase and some freshly cut flowers from the garden. So I thought maybe she would like a spring / garden inspired pencil case. For the hexagons I chose mostly pastel coloured fabrics with flower prints (some of them were a gift from her for my birthday) and for the main fabric I used a light blue linen. The inside is green with white polka dots. Have I ever mentioned that I really like blue and green at the moment? I hope she likes it but if not I think I would be happy to use it myself ;-)

I denke, nun kann ich Euch ja sagen, was ich mit den Hexagons aus meinem letzten Post angestellt habe: Ein Federmäppchen für meine Mama. Sie hat einen ganz süßen kleinen Schreibtisch für ihren Laptop, der immer so aufgeräumt ist, dass da höchstens noch eine kleine Vase mit frischen Blumen aus dem Garten steht. Also dachte ich mir, dass ihr ein frühlings- bzw. garteninspiriertes Mäppchen gefallen könnte. Für die Hexagons habe ich hauptsächlich pastellige Stoffe mit Blumenmustern genommen (einige davon waren ein Geschenk von ihr zu meinem Geburtstag) und für den Hauptstoff habe ich einen hellblauen Leinenstoff ausgesucht, ich finde, das harmoniert ganz toll. Innen ist es dann grün mit weißen Tupfen. Habe ich schon mal erwähnt, dass ich grün und blau im Moment so gern mag? Ich hoffe, es gefällt Dir, liebe Mutti, wenn nicht, dann benutze ich es auch gern selbst ;-)

New passion :: Neue Leidenschaft

 

I discovered a new obsession: hexagons! Seeing so many lovely examples of them on the internet, I just had to try them. The reason I haven't tried earlier was the paper piecing part. But actually it turned out to be the fun part! And it took lee time than expected and makes a perfect craft for sitting in the garden or whilst watching TV. The ones in the picture are just some leftovers of my motherday present for my mum. But that has to remain a secret till it arrives. So happy mother's day to all mums in the world but especially to my wonderful mother. 

Ich habe eine neue Leidenschaft entdeckt: Hexagons. Nachdem ich so viele wundervolle Exemplare davon im Internet gesehen habe, musste ich sie einfach ausprobieren. Der Grund warum ich es nicht schon eher probiert habe, war der "paper piecing"-Teil. Aber es stellte sich raus, dass dies der Spass-Teil an der ganzen Sache war! Diese, die ihr im Bild seht, sind die uebrig gebliebenen von meinem Muttertagsgeschenk fuer meine Mutti, aber das muss noch ein Geheimnis bleiben bis es bei ihr ankommt. Also Alles Gute zum Muttertag an alle Muttis dieser Welt aber ganz besonders fuer meine wunderbare Mutti. (PS: der Fliederstrauss ist fuer Dich!)

...that's today's no. And that is how many squares you see in that picture. I have cut them all and laid out the final size and layout. It actually took longer than expected but I suppose 418 is quite a lot though. Anyway, it makes me really happy seeing them all together. I have now put together the individual rows and labelled them so hopefully after sewing the squares together it will look the same. 

... das ist die Zahl des Tages, denn so viele Quadrate seht ihr in dem Photo. Ich habe sie nun endlich alle geschnitten und die endgueltige Groesse und Layout ausgelegt. Es hat laenger gedauert, als ich erwartet hatte, aber 418 Qudrate sind wahrscheinlich doch 'ne ganze Menge. Jedenfalls macht es mich richtig froehlich, sie alles zusammen zu sehen. Ich habe nun die einzelnen Reihen zusammengesteckt und sie markiert, so dass es nach dem Zusammennaehen hoffentlich auch wieder so (oder so aehnlich) aussehen wird.
